What we are doing now...

Okay so we would like to update all of you on what is happening right now in our lives.

First of all we would like to send out a huge thank-you to those who have sent us donations, you are a vital part in the quest that the Lord is sending us on!

We have set up a bank account at TD where our donations have been deposited. So from now on if you have donations to send, cheques can be made out to "Melting Pot Ministries".

We are unable to move to Guatemala until our funds reach around $30,000. So we have kicked our personal savings into high gear. We have come to the realization that we won't be able to move down for at least a year, unless there is a miracle where donations are concerned.

We are very excited to have the Guatemala chapter of our lives begin, but we want it in God's timing and will, not our own.

So right now Jordan is working for a company called Heartwood Homes as a framer (and if I can say so, a really great framer!) building 1200-10000sf homes. He enjoys learning from his brother as they build together and hopes to utilize the skills learned, while doing missions in the future.

As for me I am now working as a Behavioral Interventionist, independently with a young man who is 19 this month, he has Downs Syndrome and Autism. I also fill in with another boy who is 8 who also has autism and is non-verbal, when his aid is unavailable. I really enjoy working with these guys and all they have to teach me. :)

We are living in Lumby, BC but as of Aug. 30 we will be moving back into Vernon, BC into a basement suite until we are able to start Melting Pot Ministries in Guatemala.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers as God molds us into the children he desires us to be for His glory before we go!

Isaiah 64:8
Yet you, Lord, are our father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. NIV

About Melting Pot Ministries

Melting Pot Ministries is an organization that My husband Jordan and I (Candice) are starting. The mission will be in Antigua, Guatemala. For the past year and a half we have be researching and praying about what this would look like.

We have already been connecting with 2 different organizations in Guatemala that we would like to continue supporting; an orphanage - Casa Bernabe and a special ne...eds hospital - Hermano Pedro. We will also be connecting within our communtiy and starting programs that will help to strengthen them. I am looking forward to building relationships with my neighbors in Guatemala.

As well we are wanting to start a youth group, mentoring program and share the love and hope that Christ brings with travelers and backpackers from all over the world. In order to make all of this happen we will need a building. A year ago we found a hostel that is forsale in Antigua. We believe that buying this hostel will be a well rounded way to support all the plans that God has placed on our hearts. Everyday we will be able to build relationships with travels and have a facility to house groups from North America that want to support the mission. The hostal will provide a way for travelers to give to the community that they are visiting. From being backpackers ourselves we understand the need for a place to connect you with ways to help. Many people want to help but just don't know where to start. We want to be that starting point for them.

We look forward to the next step, moving to Guatemala. In order to make this happen we ask first and foremost for you prayers, in order for our mission to survive we need God to be at the forefront of everything we do. So we understand the importance of prayer. Secondly we ask that you search your heart for what God is calling you to give financially as a one time donation to help get us started.

Here is a layout of our financial need:

The Hostal business - $25 000
(Includes all supplies necessary to run mission and fully functioning business from day one)
Monthly lease payment on building - $950
Lawyer Fees - $3000

Moving Expenses:

One way flights for 2 - $1400
Temporary Residency - $300
Food for a month - $400
Transportation for a month - $200
Lodging for a month - $350

Total: $31 600

This is the goal that we need to reach before we are able to leave for Guatemala, so please following what God is calling you to give. We are very excited about this new season of life that God is sending us towards.

Blessings

Jordan & Candice Kemper
